Lea Becker is a writer and director, working in fiction and non-fiction for television and the big screen.
Her newest show, DIE DÜSTEREN, was filmed in Belgium and is currently in post production with a release in mid 2026.
Previous projects include the NETFLIX show KITZ, the vampire show LOVE SUCKS, (winner German Cinematography Award, nomination German TV Award – Best Music) and HELLGROUND (winner German TV Award -Best Music), a dark comedy series now streaming on Netflix and Channel 4.
Her movie GET UP / SKATERGIRLS (co-written by Lea) saw its theatrical release by Constantin Film.
Her first narrative feature, #ICARUS, won the Red Cross Award at the Monte Carlo TV festival 2022.
Lea’s YA show HIT AND RUN, which she co-wrote, was screened at Berlinale Drama Series Days
Her short film JENNY was nominated for the German Short Film Award and won Best Actor at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis and the Bavarian Film Commission Award.
In 2020, Lea graduated from the University of Television and Film Munich with an MA in documentary film making with her feature-length documentary, A PERFECT RUN. It was commissioned by the German public broadcaster ZDF and premiered in the documentary competition at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis.
Other documentary projects include her web series TRUE STORIES with over 100 episodes, which was licensed to Samsung TV and generated millions of views, her movie THE RIGHT KIND OF LOVE and her short film, SWEAR, which won the Online Audience Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival.
Lea also holds a BA in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and is an alumna of the BFA Fine Arts Programme at the Cooper Union in New York.
She is represented in Germany by Monica Conti at WRITERS & DIRECTORS and in the US by Dave Brown and Amotz Zakai at Echo Lake Entertainment.

Ihre Vampirserie LOVE SUCKS (ebenfalls ZDFneo), gewann 2025 den Deutschen Kamerapreis (K: Carmen Treichl) und wurde für den deutschen Fernsehpreis für die Beste Musik nominiert (M: Karwan Marouf) und beim Münchner Filmfest mit dem Bernd Burgemeister Fernsehpreis für die beste TV-Serie ausgezeichnet. Produzent war STUDIO ZENTRAL, mit der Lea 2022 schon die erfolgreiche Serie HÖLLGRUND realisiert hatte (SWR/ARD Mediathek, aktuell auf NETFLIX).
Leas Kinodebüt, GET UP / SKATERGIRLS, produziert von Rat Pack Filmproduktion, wurde von Contstantin Film verliehen und erhielt das Prädikat besonders wertvoll. Lea war Co-Autorin des Drehbuchs.
Für ODEON Fiction realisierte Lea zunächst die NETFLIX Serie KITZ, dann ihren ersten Langfilm, FLÜGEL AUS BETON (WDR), der auf dem Monte-Carlo TV Festival den Red Cross Award gewann und für den deutschen Kamerapreis nominiert wurde (K: Doro Götz).
DER PERFEKTE RUN (ZDF), Leas Diplomfilm an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München feierte 2020 auf dem Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis im Dokumentarfilm-Wettbewerb Premiere.
Lea hatte mit der Redaktion zuvor bereits für die Jugendserie HIT AND RUN zusammengearbeitet, die im Rahmen der Berlinale Drama Series Days gezeigt wurde.
Leas Kurzfilm JENNY wurde 2017 für den deutschen Kurzfilmpreis nominiert. Er gewann den Preis für den besten Nachwuchsschauspieler (Leonard Kunz) auf dem Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis und den FFF Förderpreis auf der internationalen Kurzfilmwoche Regensburg.
Vor ihrem Diplom machte Lea einen Bachelor in Graphic Design an der Universität der Künste in London mit einem Auslandssemester an der Cooper Union New York.
Lea wird in Deutschland von Monica Conti von WRITERS & DIRECTORS und in den USA von Dave Brown von Echo Lake Entertainment repräsentiert.
