Lea Becker is a writer and director, working both in fiction and non-fiction for television and the big screen.
Most recently, Lea directed the new German TV show, LOVE SUCKS, for Berlin-based Studio Zentral. She had previously directed the successful show HELLGROUND for them, which is now streaming on Netflix.
In 2023 her movie GET UP saw its theatrical release by CONSTANTIN FILM. It was produced by RAT PACK Filmproduktion. Lea also co-wrote the script.
Lea had directed her first narrative feature, the TV movie #icarus in 2021, as well as three episodes of the show KITZ for NETFLIX, both produced by Odeon Fiction.
In 2019, Lea wrote and directed the feature-length documentary A PERFECT RUN, commissioned by the German public broadcaster ZDF whom she had worked with on the mini series HIT AND RUN. Her documentary web series TRUE STORIES was licensed to Samsung TV, and generated millions of views. Since 2016 Lea had created, produced and shot around a hundred episodes.
In 2016, Lea wrote, produced and directed the acclaimed short film JENNY. It was nominated for the 2017 German Short Film Award and won the Newcomer Award for Best Actor at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis and the Bavarian Film Commission Award. Shortly after, she was offered to create, write and direct the miniseries HIT AND RUN in 2018.
Many of Lea’s films have been invited to international film festivals — most notably Berlinale Drama Series Days. At the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2013, her debut documentary, Swear, won the Online Audience Award.
Lea holds a BA in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts London and the Cooper Union in New York and an MA from the University of Television and Film Munich (almuni: Wolfgang Petersen, Bernd Eichinger, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck). She is represented in Germany by Monica Conti, CEO of WRITERS & DIRECTORS.

Lea Becker ist Autorin und Regisseurin für Serien, Spielfilme und Dokumentarfilme.
Zuletzt führte sie bei der neuen ZDFneo Serie LOVE SUCKS Regie, produziert von STUDIO ZENTRAL, mit der Lea 2022 schon die erfolgreiche Serie HÖLLGRUND realisierte (Redaktion SWR/ARD Mediathek, aktuell auf NETFLIX).
2023 erschien ihr Kinodebüt GET UP im CONSTANTIN FILM Verleih, produziert von RAT PACK Filmproduktion. Lea schrieb auch das Drehbuch zum Film mit.
Zuvor realisierte sie im WDR ihren ersten Langfilm, Flügel aus Beton, und bei Netflix die Serie KITZ, beides für die ODEON Fiction.
2019 drehte sie den abendfüllenden Dokumentarfilm DER PERFEKTE RUN, ihr Abschlussfilm an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München, in Koproduktion mit dem ZDF / kleines Fernsehspiel, gefördert durch den FFF Bayern. Er feierte 2020 auf dem Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis im Dokumentarfilmwettbewerb Premiere.
Lea hatte mit der Redaktion zuvor bereits für die Jugendserie HIT AND RUN zusammengearbeitet, die 2018 auf der Berlinale im Rahmen der Drama Series Days gezeigt wurde.
2017 wurde ihr Film JENNY für den deutschen Kurzfilmpreis nominiert, den Lea geschrieben und gemeinsam mit der HFF München produziert hatte. Zudem erhielt er den Preis für den besten Nachwuchsschauspieler auf dem Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis sowie den FFF Förderpreis auf der internationalen Kurzfilmwoche Regensburg.
Lea machte 2020 ihr Diplom in Dokumentarfilmregie und Fernsehpublizistik an der HFF München. 2009 hatte sie ihren Bachelor in Grafikdesign an der Universität der Künste London am Central Saint Martins College abgeschlossen. Im Rahmen ihres Studiums hatte sie ein Auslandssemester an der Cooper Union New York verbracht.
Lea wird in Deutschland von Monica Conti von WRITERS & DIRECTORS repräsentiert.
