Lea Becker is a writer and director, working both in fiction and non-fiction for television and the big screen.

Most recently, Lea directed the new German TV show, LOVE SUCKS, for Berlin-based Studio Zentral. She had previously directed the successful show HELLGROUND for them, which is now streaming on Netflix.

In 2023 her movie GET UP saw its theatrical release by CONSTANTIN FILM. It was produced by RAT PACK Filmproduktion. Lea also co-wrote the script.

In 2019, Lea wrote and directed the feature-length documentary A PERFECT RUN, commissioned by the German public broadcaster ZDF whom she had worked with on the mini series HIT AND RUN. Her documentary web series TRUE STORIES was licensed to Samsung TV, and generated millions of views. Since 2016 Lea had created, produced and shot around a hundred episodes.

In 2016, Lea wrote, produced and directed the acclaimed short film JENNY. It was nominated for the 2017 German Short Film Award and won the Newcomer Award for Best Actor at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis and the Bavarian Film Commission Award. Shortly after, she was offered to create, write and direct the miniseries HIT AND RUN in 2018.

Many of Lea’s films have been invited to international film festivals — most notably Berlinale Drama Series Days. At the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2013, her debut documentary, Swear, won the Online Audience Award.

Lea holds a BA in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts London and the Cooper Union in New York and an MA from the University of Television and Film Munich (almuni: Wolfgang Petersen, Bernd Eichinger, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck).
